Yeah, part of the reason they do so well, is that they shut off the gasoline engine when stopped, and use either electric only or in combo at speeds up to like 38mph. Over that, it's just on the gas.
I mean they're still over 30mph on the freeway, I guess it's probably model specific.

i remember that too Mav, crazy ..
now when i put on my sandals and head out for a steak/DMB concert , my SUV cost me up to 30 dollars to fill up.

The ones I've seen (not that I'm an entrepreneur of these) are only like 42city/36highway. On an unrelated note, I'm driving my V8 today which gets in the neighborhood of 19mpg.

A$1.25 a litre here in australia premium A$1.35
drive a '89 VN SS commodore with 5 litre V8 does about 25 mpg
