He used to be a fireman, now hes an engineer. BURNOUTS either way. I had enough of turning up to fires and accidents and pulling out what was left of human beings and hearing the loved ones screams as they watched, you do that for 3 years and we'll see how you feel it haunts you forever, i cant sleep without seeing their faces, hearing them scream and cry ive seen so much death and didnt want to see anymore

Don't speculate on what you could do. I could easily add a cam and be at over 340hp. Or I do the intake, throttle body, rocker arms, nitrous and be over a million-bajillion horsepower. Run what you brung, you've lost so far. p.s. $500 worth of exhaust mods won't gain you .7s in the quarter. the SV5000 is a limited run special edition of 250 and i dont believe in modifying vehicles of such rarity and secondly it ruins their value as a collectable vehicle also i made no mention of cam changes, just exhaust and airbox also using the exhaust/air package we have it is proven to up the poer output by 17% over stock and run through our simulation software my car would be faster by a minimum of .5s remembering also that its nearly 200kg lighter, making it more responsive to increased horsepower its all about power to weight ratio EDIT: if i added the GRP A cam to my car id be making 407hp

There's nothing collectable about that. Unless you have a 100hp car, you won't gain 17% from a airbox lid and a catback exhaust (not headers, just catalytic converter back). It's typically a 15-20 hp mod. I said "cam" and "nitrous" and "supercharger" because it sounds like you're making excuses. You could have done a lot of things, but you didn't. Too bad, so sad. If you want to gain a half second in a quarter, put drag radials on your car. $500 and 20hp won't make a .5 second difference on the et of your car. It really sounds like you have no idea what you're talking about. You won't gain over 100hp with just a cam either. If you buy something that aggressive, you'd need (at least) heads, and headers just to support it. Now just because you work in the mail-room of a speed shop does not make you an engineer there.

True, however it is still worth more unmodified id replace the airbox and inlet duct with a free flow race K&N item and the exhaust would include replacing the cat with a woven core cats instead of the usual honeycomb style cats and a 2 3/4 mandrel bent stainless exhaust with low restriction straight thru 3in muffler and tail pipe, also the SV5000 comes from the factory with HSV headers as opposed to the standard manifolds and do not need changing The alloy VN heads in stock trim flow about 440hp and for most road going applications need no mods whatsoever, a cam & memcal change coupled with the above mentioned inlet & exhaust mods would easily produce 407hp at the flywheel It doesnt bother me that the Firebird is quicker over the 1/4 mile, im more interested in a car's all round ability ie handling, braking etc as where i live there are some truly great drives to test man & machine on that was my fuck up for not including the intake & exhaust mods in the edit, yes at those power levels im more or less at the limit of the intake manifold and injectors and to make more there'd have to be some major changes to the engine. im guessing that you're not overly familiar with the Holden 304 EFI engine's design history and intention, the engine was conceived originally for Group A touring car racing and is as a result ridiculously over-engineered for a standard family car, the ultimate road going version available from the factory is the 235kw GTS-R version intended as a club racer special, the engines as standard are all equipped with low friction bearings and steel crankshafts and are well capable of revving to 6500rpm+, the rods being a limiting factor being only guaranteed to 7000rpm, the intake manifold is designed to ram air into the combustion chambers and feature a large 75mm throttle body as standard, because of the already exellent intake systems employed on the engine, some engine shops acheiving 320kw+(423hp) using the standard intake manifold in summary they are an incredibly well built engine well suited to performance modification and will get hammering without breaking the bank.
