I'm not really trying to win, I'm just making a statement that to my knowledge is true. The American versions of cars tend to have more horsepower.
I'm sure he wanted to run it through a drag racing simulation or something.

I'm sure he wanted to run it through a drag racing simulation or something. Oh, I know. I'm just saying I seriously doubt that there's a lot that could beat that Firebird, bone-stock. Plus... Yeah. The United States are the masters of excess. In food, in sex, in engines, everything. Unless Australians have some genius engineers to develop some super-powerful engine, while using less gasoline, and also being of a smaller displacement. It's silly. Even if they did have some great breakthrough, I assure you, it wouldn't stay in Australia long. I mean, goodness... 5.0 beating a 5.7 Firebird. Silly Aussie. There's no substitute for cubic inches.

*Sigh* 1998 Pontiac Formula Firebird 5.7-Litre OHV V8 (LS1) 5665cc (346 cu.in.) Sequential F.I. Pontiac listed at 305 hp @ 5200 rpm 335lb.-ft@4000rpm Dyno tested this spring at 316hp @ 5100 rpm 352lb.-ft@4000rpm 6 speed manual transmission 1st - 2.66 2nd - 1.78 3rd - 1.30 4th - 1.00 (just barely touch 4th in a quarter mile) 5th - 0.74 6th - 0.50 Final - 3.42 Pontiac listed curb weight 1568 kg (3457 lb.) Only mods are a catback exhaust and air cleaner lid. It runs a quarter mile in 13.5s at 108 mph. I think that his lack of reply means you win. my lack of reply was due to me being away for some work bullshit 1989 Holden VN SV5000 5.0 litre OHV V8 4998cc (304 cu in) Sequential E.F.I Odometer Reading: 158775km 5 speed manual 1st 2.95:1 2nd 1.94:1 3rd 1.34:1 4th 1.00:1 5th 0.73:1 3.08:1 hypoid limited slip diff weight: 1377kg my dyno results were as follows: Speed (RPM) Torque (lb/ft.) Power (hp) 2750 302.3 158.3 3000 305.7 174.6 3250 309.6 191.6 3500 320.4 213.5 3750 346.8 247.6* 4000 333.6 254.1 4250 336.0 271.9 4500 335.0 287.0 4750 319.9 289.3 5000 306.7 292.0** 5250 287.7 287.6 5500 278.4 291.5 * 346.8 lb/ft ** 292 Hp EDIT: Dyno test performed on 29 august at 12.15pm Holden quote the power output as 200kw mine is making about 215kw its actual on road achieived top speed is 244km/h quoted fuel consumption is City: 14.5l/100km Highway: 9.0l/100km it ran a standing 1/4 mile in 13.8s @99.1 mph officially cracking 100kph in 5.28 seconds ill also add that the vehicle is unmodified from its factory specifications while yours has had exhaust and air cleaner mods allowing for a higher performance and given the very similar performance figures achieved by the 2 cars I would conclude that with the same modifications performed on the VN as your Firebird I would improve by approximately .7-.9s therefore beating you down a quarter mile Im an auto engineer specialising in high performance street/race engines by trade

Im an auto engineer specialising in high performance street/race engines by trade You're an engineer specializing in high performance and you havn't modded your car? Sorry, I don't believe you. Don't speculate on what you could do. I could easily add a cam and be at over 340hp. Or I do the intake, throttle body, rocker arms, nitrous and be over a million-bajillion horsepower. Run what you brung, you've lost so far. p.s. $500 worth of exhaust mods won't gain you .7s in the quarter.
