i can't say for sure, but it will probably be the best RTS game ever.
it's made by the guy who made total annihilation, one of the great RTS games even after 11 years.
i havent played any rts since dawn of war:winter assault. it was good but like almost any rts it boils down to how fast you can click around and who gets the tech first.
supreme commander should be revolutionary, and close to perfect in many ways. make no mistake, this guy KNOWS what rts should be like. you only have to play TA to see that.

I think many people agree that StarCraft is the greatest RTS game ever.
As the title is already set, I don't think there's any changing it. I mean, it was set back when we wrote in stone. We can't just erase it.

heheh
starcraft stole the thunder from total annihilation, because A it was nicely polished and B it was a long awaited release because of how long it took to be released and because of warcraft.
but if you look at the magazine reviews, TA was one of the best scored games ever and it's just unfortunate that starcraft was too.
they are both completely different approaches to RTS.
and stone writing is nothing. it takes a commander about two seconds to nanolathe a gigantic stone monolith into metal resource. even a lowly construction kbot will kick that stones ass pretty quickly and turn it into some power stations or something.
red alert was the first RTS game i bought, and i played all c&c games until i figured out they would never fix the "ore truck" bug, ever. i loved them to death but they are totally primitive. ZZZZZZZZ. RAGH! tesla coils ruled. then EA took over and produced generals and zero hour, which are pretty awesome but a bit flawed aswell.
starcraft has great atmosphere, even today, and it's good fun.

hey logg, when you get your computer..... eyyyyyyyyyy
i'm serious, everyone else can pass on Supreme Commander because it would crush their computers' wills to live, but yours will be able to tame this monstrous game.
pffff @ c&c. like i said before, c&c is just code for "stupid resource-gatherer will sit and wait until some gatherer miles away offloads"

well, if you've got time to waste on a game..
what are you waiting for?
i don't just make these things up for shits and giggles. this game owns RTS. i have been a fan of the genre since warcraft and command & conquer, in fact, i owned a navy simulator from the eighties. i've watched this genre grow, warp, attempt to grow and sometimes, fall over sideways. this game is as close to perfect as it has ever come.
the atmosphere and fun may be lacking compared to some others, but the gameplay is second to none.
